A stray dog in Cozze, Italy must be destined for great things after surviving a meeting with a car in miraculous fashion.

As Marco Menozzi was driving his Peugeot 207, he ran down the dog while traveling at about 70 mph.  With  no apparent regard for the animal’s life, Menozzi never stopped.

Actually he did stop, but not until 15 miles of road had passed.

What Menozzi didn’t know was that the one-year old dog was still very much alive and still traveling with the car.

Somehow the dog was hit and, instead of bouncing off the car, was embedded through the grill and under the hood.  He wisely stayed put for the remainder of the ride.

Amazingly, the dog’s only injuries were a broken leg and some bruising which were treated by veterinarians.

“He’s a very lucky boy.  He was saved because he was hit so hard.  Any softer and he would have bounced off the car and been crushed under the wheels,” said a police spokesman.

The pup is being cared for in the police pound.  If his luck holds out, perhaps he will find a good home.
